The Nakagin Capsule Tower was acquired in 2018 by a new owner who plans to demolish and redevelop the property.  Since the new ownership and management, the convenience store below sits vacant, another tenant has left, another piece of Nakagin is gone.

When foreigners think of Tokyo, Japan they often think of Japanese temples & shrines, sushi & ramen and maybe even shopping at Ginza.  What else does Tokyo have to offer?  One would only need to Google the best places to visit in Tokyo, Japan and the Nakagin Capsule Tower will most likely be on that list.

中銀カプセルタワービル  The Nakagin Capsule Tower is a world renowned building, an icon in the fabric of Tokyo and a part of Japanese history.  Arguably the best example of Japanese Metabolism architectural theory.  A theory that helped bring forward prefabricated construction methods and today’s popular container architecture.  Not to mention Japan’s popular prefabricated ‘unit bathrooms’ and Capsule Hotels.  The Nakagin is not just a unique building, it represents many innovative ideas, a grandfather to many, that is what makes the Nakagin Capsule Tower special and worth saving.  #saveNakagin
